English: Chinese gunboat Ruijin(瑞金) in early 1950s.
Ruijin is a converted gunboat of PLAN. It's formerly a US Design 381 coastal freighter, but was requisitioned by PLA and converted to an armed merchant gunboat. It was very active in the early 1950s, participating most of the battles in the period. In 5/18/1954, Ruijin was bombed and sunk by ROCAF P-47 fighter bomber. In 1955, PLAN built a frigate inherited its name.
The photo was taken probably around 1952 by unknown PLAN photographer. However, although every source on the Internet claims it to be a photo of 'Ruijin', I personally think that it's actually a converted Design 330-D freighter in PLAN, such as gunboat 'Zhunyi', 'Huaiyang', 'Yancheng', or 'Handan'. I am still digging the exact source, keeping the name temporarily. One can compare the picture with
The last moments of Ruijin and find that the position of the main mast is different.
